Arizona offers one of the best and most diverse varieties of golf courses in the country with hundreds from which to choose, most of which are located within 90 minutes of the Phoenix metropolitan area. There are numerous choices of price, service and layout options to satisfy players of every skill level. The Phoenix and Scottsdale metro area golf courses create a golf vacation paradise unmatched anywhere in the world. For golfers living in Arizona, everyday is a golf vacation!

Spring & Summer golf in the Scottsdale area is nice as mother nature offers more daylight and there are more tee time options along with a few less winter visitors which also usually means lower green fees. Many courses also now use on-demand pricing so make sure you check all your options at your favorite course as moving 30 minutes earlier or later can sometimes save you some big dollars.

During the Fall, Phoenix area golf courses start to overseed so make sure you know where they are in the process before you make your tee time so there are no surprises when you arrive. Most courses will look awesome from the tee upon reopening but the grass may be a little thin in some areas as you get out on on the fairways and the greens may be a little slower than normal. However, the weather is starting to be really nice so it is still very enjoyable. Most courses will be in near peak conditions within three weeks of reopening. Green fees are higher than the summer but not quite peak yet so it is a great time to play in Arizona. Daily fee golf courses often offer web specials on their websites allowing golfers to play many top courses that offer reduced fees from the peak season rates that can be as high as $100 to $300 with a few as much as $400 (such as TPC Scottsdale) during the March to early April time frame. However, mid-late afternoon times are often discounted.

Sedona and Prescott courses are a little cooler in the higher elevations which can have some chilly morning temperatures but conditions are very pleasant during the Fall months. Courses such as StoneRidge in Prescott Valley always offer a challenging round of golf about an hour north of Phoenix but temperatures can be a bit cool from December – March so plan to wear pants when venturing to Northern Arizona during this period. Although there have been plenty of golf pros telling stories about golfers staying in Phoenix and driving up to the high country in shorts only to realize the extent of the climate change upon stepping out of the car!
